Wheatley’s Aaron Hodkin Crowned MVP as England & Wales Triumph in TGI Partnership Trophy

England & Wales staged a remarkable comeback to capture their first TGI Partnership Trophy victory since 2016, in a thrilling two-day contest at the prestigious Archerfield Links in Scotland.

The annual event—supported by Callaway, Callaway Apparel, and TravisMathew—brought together eight top PGA Partners from each home nation, all competing for national pride and the coveted trophy.

After day one, Ireland held a commanding lead with eight points, leaving England & Wales and Scotland trailing with just two apiece. But what followed was a sensational turnaround. A dominant singles performance on day two saw England & Wales surge back to level terms, taking the contest right down to the final hole of the final match. Victory for Jack Frances (Hadley Wood GC) secured the decisive points, toppling five-time champions Ireland and sealing a historic win.

Among the standout performers was Wheatley Golf Club’s PGA Professional, Aaron Hodkin, who was named the event’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) after an exceptional display of consistency and composure. Representing England & Wales, Hodkin achieved a maximum haul of five points from five available, including two victories over Scotland and a crucial win against Ireland. His flawless performance played a pivotal role in guiding his team to glory.

“It’s always an honour to represent your country, but to help the team win and be named MVP makes it even more special,” said Hodkin.

“A big thank you to Callaway, Callaway Apparel, and TravisMathew for sponsoring and supporting such a fantastic event. From the team kits to the amazing venue, every player was looked after in such a professional and enjoyable way. The standard of golf across all teams was incredible, and it was a privilege to be part of it.”

This year’s success lifts England & Wales to two titles in the tournament’s history, drawing them level with Scotland but still three behind record-holders Ireland.

The winning team, captained by Simon Keeling, included Adrian Ambler (Meltham GC), John Fisher (Huyton & Prescot GC), Jack Frances (Hadley Wood GC), Adam Hickling (Stoneham GC), Aaron Hodkin (Wheatley GC), Robert Joyce (Woodbridge GC), Ben Ratcliffe (Kilnwick Percy GC), and Richard Smith (Rookery Park GC).

With its blend of teamwork, competitive spirit, and high-quality golf, the 2025 TGI Partnership Trophy once again showcased the strength and camaraderie within the PGA Partner network.

For Wheatley Golf Club, Hodkin’s MVP performance is another proud moment, underlining the club’s growing reputation on both regional and national stages.
